Tree service in Everett, above Port Gardner
Everett is the county seat and the oldest built up part of our area, and it has the trees to show for it. On the bluff above Port Gardner Bay, around Rucker Hill and the older avenues, there are mature conifers and big leaf maples that went in when those streets were new and are now among the largest trees standing over any residential lot on our list. Out east and south toward Silver Lake the plats are newer, the lots are smaller, and the trees are planted landscape stock rather than survivors. Between those two halves, Everett hands us both ends of the trade inside one city, and the jobs could not be less alike.

The bluff work is the serious end of it. A very old conifer on a lot that falls away toward the water, with a house on one side and a neighbor's roof on the other, comes apart in pieces on ropes and nothing about that day is quick. What decides it is less the tree than the ground and the access: how close a chipper can get, where a piece can be lowered to, and what sits under the drop zone. That is why the estimate happens at the property and never over the phone.
Everett also takes more wind off the water than the inland half of our area, and the trees that feel it are the ones standing alone. A conifer that spent forty years inside a row and then lost its neighbors to a remodel or a new build is a tall narrow tree carrying the full load on its own, and that is the one worth an assessment rather than a wait and see. Thinning the crown and shortening the longest limbs takes the leverage out of it, which is a real reduction in what the tree has to carry and is nothing like cutting the head out of it.

Questions from Everett
My street has old city trees. Who looks after those?
The ones in the planting strip between the sidewalk and the road are usually the city's rather than yours, and the rules on them are not the rules on a tree in your own yard. We will tell you at the estimate which side of that line we believe your tree sits on, and we will not book work on something that is not yours to authorise. Anything standing inside your own property is a different conversation entirely.
Do you work the older neighborhoods up on the bluff?
Yes, and they make for some of the more careful days we have. Houses sit close together, the trees are the biggest we touch on a residential lot, and there is usually a view somebody wants kept and a roof somebody wants left alone. That combination is a rigging job rather than a felling job, which means a slower and more deliberate day and a plan agreed before anybody leaves the ground.

Tell us what the trees are doing and we will come out, walk the property with you and write it up. The visit is free, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and you get an itemized estimate you can hold on to.
